Ancient 16th century manor house in the Haute-Saône department

This property is located in Franche-Comté, c.a. 375 km (234 miles) from Paris, c.a. 70 km (44 miles) from the border of Switzerland, between Besançon and Vesoul and in a small village with the first shops and services. It features a 16th century manor house, modified at the beginning of the 19th century, with outbuildings and 4,000 sq. mt. (1 acre) of landscaped grounds with a stream.

Main view
The North-Eastern side, with a pentagonal tower and mullion windows.

The manor was built during the 16th century and was modified during the Napoleonic Empire. It features many details from the Renaissance period: stone walls 70 cm thick (2.33 ft.), round defence tower with small windows and loopholes, mullion windows, a second tower with a stone spiral staircase, etc. The house is made of stone with a tiled roof and offers 2 levels plus the attics and the cellars. It offers c.a. 260 sq. mt. (2,797 sq. ft.) of living space and is in good general condition (total renovation in 1988: roofing, double glazing windows with wooden frames, thermal insulation, etc.) Some renovation works remains to be done inside.

The manor offers many period details: parquet floors, oak wainscotings, mouldings and fireplaces from the 19th century on the ground floor, and "à la Française" ceilings and ancient wooden floors on the 1st floor. The house is now divided into 2 apartments (one on each floor) each one offering c.a. 130 sq. mt. (1,399 sq. ft.) of living space. On the ground floor, a long corridor distributes a dining room with oak wainscoting, fireplace from the Napoleonic Empire, double exposure and access to the spiral staircase, then, an equipped kitchen with access to the round tower and its pretty summer dining room, 3 bedrooms including one with an access to the spiral staircase and a bathroom.

The 1st floor is composed of a dining room with parquet floor and fireplace, an equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms including one opening onto the round tower converted into a small study and the second with an alcove, then a bathroom and a larger beautiful room that was probably devoted to the ancient guards. The manor benefits from attics and vaulted cellars. A central oil heating system is installed.
