Beautiful 18^th century chateau near Vendôme in the Loir-et-Cher department

This property is located 200 km (124 miles) south-west of Paris, near the chateaux of the Loire, 20 km (12.5 miles) from Vendôme and its TGV train station and 5 km (3 miles) from shops. It is composed of an 17^th/18^th centuries chateau with long outbuildings and many 14^th century caves on 1.6 ha (4 acres) of landscaped grounds overlooking the Loir.

During the 16^th century, a first chateau had been erected on the ruins of a fortress dating from 1340. Only 2 round towers, one of which being a dovecote, remain from this chateau. The current chateau has been built during the 17^th century and was extended in 1783. It has hosted famous historic characters such as Diane de Poitiers, Henri IV and the Ducs de Vendôme.

Facing south, the chateau is made of roughcast stone with a slate roof. It offers 650 sq. mt. (7000 sq. ft.) of living space on 3 levels, plus an underground floor and is in good condition with a refined interior decoration.

The ground floor features 3.3 mt.-high ceiling and distributes an entrance hall with an Italian style staircase, marble fireplace and wainscotting, a reception room of 43 sq. mt. (463 sq. ft.) with windows on 2 sides, wainscotting, French ceiling, marble fireplace and parquet floor, a dining room with wainscotting, a library room, a second reception room of 35 sq. mt. (376 sq. ft.) that has been converted into a bedroom, a large equipped kitchen (45 sq. mt., 484 sq. ft.) with a storeroom and a laundry room. A second staircase also leads to the upper floors. The 1st floor distributes 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The 2nd floor includes an accommodation with 2 bedrooms, a further bedroom, 2 bathrooms and 5 ancient bedrooms for the staff.

The outbuildings consist of an 18^th century building offering 2 levels of 180 sq. mt. (1937 sq. ft.) each, including stables, a saddle room, storerooms and garages, a caretaker's house (70 sq. mt., 750 sq. ft.) two 16th century round towers, one of which being a dovecote, and many 14^th century caves.

The landscaped grounds (1.6 ha, 4 acres) are fully wall-enclosed. They feature century-old trees and terrace gardens with an ornamental lake overlooking the Loir.
