Sold Huge Historic 12th-17th centuries chateau near Avignon

This property is located in a sunny region of vineyards, not far from Avignon, hence with easy access by motorway, TGV train and plane. It is composed of a MH-listed 12th-17th centuries chateau surrounded by water-filled moats in 1.4 ha (3,46 acres) of beautiful landscaped grounds with large outbuildings and swimming pool.

The chateau with its moats

The chateau was originally built by the local lords during the 12th century. It later belonged to the ducs de Joyeuse, then to the ducs de Guise, allies of the Royal family.

A stone bridge over the broad water-filled moats leads to a beautiful Renaissance porch, which gives access to the cool main courtyard (600 sq. mt., 6 460 sq. ft.). Here we are in the intimacy of this beautiful stone building.

The main entrance
A stone bridge over the moats leads to the MH-listed Renaissance porch.

The chateau is built on piles and is U-shaped with 3 wings of 3 levels (4 levels in the eastern wing) flanked by 3 round towers. It offers a total interior space of 3 140 sq. mt. The white stones and the red tiles match with the blue sky of the region. The green of the lawn and of the Virginia creeper complete the harmony of the place.
