Provençal farmhouse in the heart of the Camargue Natural ParkThis property is located 50 km (31 miles) east of Montpellier, 40 km (25 miles) from Nîmes, 24 km (15 miles) from Arles, 13 km (8 miles) from the beaches of Les-Saintes-Marie-de-la-Mer, not far from several airports and TGV railway stations (20 min from Nîmes, 30 min from Montpellier, 1 h from Marseille and Avignon). It is composed of a large 18th century Provençal farmhouse (mas) on ca. 2 ha (5 acres) secluded in the heart of the 30 000 ha (74 000 acres) of the Camargue Natural Regional Park.

The mas was built in 1780 by the Baron Prat, with roughcast stone walls and Provençal tiles. Since then, it has been used as a hunting lodge and has welcome many prestigious guests such as the Presidents Georges Pompidou and Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.

Access to the mas via a 6 km (3.7 miles) private road ensures complete privacy, with no neighbour or nuisance of any kind.
The mas has been entirely restored, renovated and extended in 1996. The owners have spared no expense in ensuring the authenticity of the original Camarguais style has been retained, with many period details such as Montpellier stone flooring, fireplaces, wainscotting and exposed oak beams. It is in very good general and interior condition and offers ca. 600 sq. mt. (6 460 sq. ft.) of living space on 2 levels, including ca. 120 sq. mt. (1 290 sq. ft.) of reception space.

The ground floor features an entrance hall, a reception room (53 sq. mt., 570 sq. ft.) with fireplace, a dining room, a hunting room, a study/library room with period book shelves, a fully equipped, top of the range kitchen, a shower room and further service rooms (laundry room, storeroom, garage and boiler room). A long shaded terrace adjoins the southern side of the mas.

The 1st floor distributes 6 bedrooms, 2 of which with bathroom and dressing room en suite, one with shower room and dressing en suite, 2 with shower room.

The caretaker's accommodation (116 sq. mt., 1 250 sq. ft.) is located in the main building. It includes a living room, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with storeroom, a bedroom and a terrace on the ground floor, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Included in the outbuildings is a spacious cold room. The whole building is equipped with gas central heating.

The grounds (ca. 2 ha, 5 acres) feature lawns shaded by several tree species and a pond.
The surroundings are stunning, the property is located in the centre of the Camargue, 80 000 ha (198 000 acres) of wetlands, pastures, dunes and salt flats. The whole area is protected and no building is permitted for miles.

The property is bordered by a vast hunting estate on the one side, and one of the prime and richest ornithological reserves of the northern hemisphere on the other. Flamingos, egrets, herons, bitterns, ibises and wild ducks, countless species of waterfowl are to be found, as well as greater and lesser spotted eagles, long-legged and rough-legged buzzards... The reserve is strictly forbidden to tourists and walkers, in order to prevent disturbing the birds. Hence the location of the mas provides the owner with the rare privilege of seeing this exceptional wildlife.
