Sold Luxurious 19th century château-hotel in the Périgord Noir region

This property is located in the Dordogne department, 130 km (80 miles) east of Bordeaux, between Sarlat and Bergerac. It features a 19th century château that has been converted into a luxurious gastronomic hotel and several outbuildings on 4 ha (10 acres) of landscaped grounds on a bank of the Dordogne river.

The estate is located on a bank of the Dordogne river.

According to the legend, the chateau was built around 1850 by Napoléon III-to-be for one of his mistresses. It is made of local stone with a slate roof and is in very good condition. The interior decoration combines a refined period style with up-to-date conveniences, as it is confirmed by the high marks and awards granted by all the specialized guides. The chateau offers ca. 1 000 sq. mt. (10 760 sq. ft.) of living space on 4 levels, plus an underground floor.

The ground floor is devoted to reception: it includes a vast entrance hall with exposed stone walls, columns and fireplace, a lounge, an English bar, dining rooms and a professional kitchen. A double monumental stone staircase with beautiful wrought iron railing leads to the upper floors, that distribute 15 bedrooms of character, each with its own large bathroom and views of the grounds and the river. The decoration is remarkable: patinated and trompe-l'oeil paintings, refined cloths, French ceilings, etc. The chateau is equipped with air conditioning, satellite television, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, etc. The underground floor (100 sq. mt., 1 076 sq. ft.) distributes cellars.

The landscaped grounds (4 ha, 10 acres) are edged by the Dordogne river on one side and by hedges on the other sides. They feature an English style layout with century-old trees of rare species, a tennis court and a swimming pool (15 × 6 mt., 49 × 20 ft.)

One of the most renown hotel-restaurant of the Dordogne, in a magic spot...
