The chateau was built during the 15th century by a capitaine des francs archers de Touraine, on the vast terrace of a hill overlooking the surroundings and controlling the road between Poitou and Orléans.

The chateau is made of the famous limestone of Touraine (the "tuffeau") with a slate roof. It extends on 170 sq. mt. (1 830 sq. ft.) of ground space for a total interior space of 550 sq. mt. (5 920 sq. ft.) The building is in good general condition but needs interior renovation.

The ground floor features 3 mt. (9.8 ft.) high ceiling and includes an entrance with a beautiful spiral stone staircase, a very large reception room (80 sq. mt., 860 sq. ft.), a sitting room, a dining room - these last two rooms featuring monumental fireplace and French ceiling -, a kitchen, a small study in a tower and a second staircase.

The 1st floor distributes 2 large bedrooms with fireplace, a study and a bathroom. Five bedrooms and a bathroom are located on the 2nd floor. The 3rd floor distributes 3 further bedrooms for the staff and an attic. Most of the windows are equipped with interior wooden shutters.

The outbuildings include a charming ancient chapel, which was built in 1620 in memory of Anne de Bretagne and is now converted into an accommodation, a caretaker's house with 3 rooms, a barn and cave dwellings with many rooms in the cliff.

The grounds (36 ha, 89 acres) include 20 ha (50 acres) of woods with a small stream. The chateau is located in the middle of the woods.
